Leadership

Dawn Winey

Interim Pastor (January 15 – April 15, 2023)

Dawn joins us with an assortment of valuable experiences. Currently, she is working as a Chaplin Associate at Lancaster General and Women and Babies Hospitals as well as filling in as the Interim Pastor at Mountville Mennonite. Previously, Dawn was Associate Pastor at Mount Joy Mennonite Church for 20 years (1997-2017). She also served on the LMC Executive Council, joining in the meetings and work of the Bishop Board (2011-2017), and the Bishop Support Team for the Landisville Manor District (2016-2017).

Dawn’s husband, Rich, also served as the Worship Pastor at MJMC for 20 years. They have 3 sons, a daughter in law, and 5 grandchildren.

Throughout Dawn’s life, she has found that cultural and economic diversity broadened her worldview, stirred her compassion for people experiencing brokenness and injustice, and opened her eyes to the miracle of transformation, often birthed through the unconditional love and acceptance of a family of faith.

Jim Laverty

Lead Pastor

Jim believes equipping God’s people for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-16) is his primary role as a lead pastor. He does this by:
• seeking to recognize spiritual thirst
• cooperating with the Holy Spirit
• talking about his own faith in Jesus
• inviting people to respond to the call to surrender our lives to Jesus

Since 2007, Jim has served as a Mennonite pastor. He and his wife, Wendy, have a daughter, Lindsey. He enjoys learning new things, meeting with people, live music, and walking his dog, Nalia.
